TOYOTA TO ESTABLISH ITS FIRST ASSEMBLY PLANT IN MYANMAR

Toyota will build its first assembly plant for pickup trucks in Myanmar this year at the Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The announcement came amidst the Myanmar Government’s recent launch of its new automotive policy – the prioritisation of left-hand vehicles and implementation of control measures on imports of used right-hand drive vehicles. The Japanese automaker also plans to locally produce the Hilux model at the new plant beginning February 2021.
